There is a limited amount of shade on the east side of the soccer field where the cars will be parked. The early birds get the worms so plan on arriving well before registration begins if you want a chance to park in the shade. The rest of the park itself is well shaded, however and features pavilions, clean restrooms, ball diamonds, horseshoes, basketball and tennis courts, volleyball and picnic areas for your use.
Akron Lions Club is our chosen charity this year. This is our local charter club of Lions International, the globally recognized charitable organization that supports youth programs, disaster relief, vision and hearing advocacy, cancer research, diabetes care and educational programs. Akron Lions Club has been instrumental in supporting low income and underserved residents within the Akron Community. Last year, our charity was Akron Las Donas Foster Children Care Cases.
Yes! This event is a judged show and while our judges are volunteers and not paid for their time, they all have car show and judging experience. Each entry will be judged fairly, and is guaranteed an honest score based on each judge's opinion and ability to view the entry. If a judge has an entry at the show, he or she will NOT be permitted to score their own vehicle or any vehicle in their own class. While it has been a concern in the past by some participants, please understand that these wonderful people are donating their time for the benefit and goal of the event, which is to raise money for charity.
People's Choice voting is open to everyone at the show, regardless if they have an entry or not. It is another way of raising funds and getting the community involved in a fun and meaningful way. "Votes" are cast by donations of $1 each and anyone may donate votes for as many entries as they want and for how much they want. If you want to put $1 on one entry and $5 on another, you can. If an entry wishes to "buy" the People's Choice trophy by giving the most "vote donations", that is ok, too. It's all for fun and the benefit of the charity. Remember, it's not about who wins the trophy, it's the fact that the funds are going to a great charitable cause.
The Akron Chamber of Commerce hopes to makes this an annual event. 2024 marks the second year for our show and our goal is to continue with it, building it into something that gets bigger and bigger and more successful each year.
